Today I wanted to discuss creating a fully functional tube site for free or for cheap. I know most webmasters are not willing to jump right into purchasing an expensive script and dealing with the installation, skinning, programming etc that goes along with those scripts. So hopefully this tutorial can show you how to do a wordpress tube site on a budget. First, you need to find the right theme that suits you. There are plenty of free and paid themes available, a simple google search of “Wordpress Tube Themes” will provide you with a number of options. In this tutorial I will be using Tube Theme – definitely affordable at $39.95.

Tube Theme is great and usable right out of the box. However, I wanted to make it a little more appealing on the eyes, so after a little time tweaking the CSS and re-doing some images, my final theme ended up looking like this:

From here, you simply have to find sponsors that allow you to use embeddable videos. You also have to create thumbnails for those videos which is time consuming but will ensure that you have the best looking content. Now, if you don’t mind your bandwidth bill and want to have your videos on the same player, I would recommend purchasing Easy FLV which would allow you to host your own videos (and some sponsors have FLV dumps you can use as well).

That’s basically it, after a days worth of work you can have your own professional looking tube site up and running and ready for tons of traffic. I set up Porn For Your Buck as a quick demo to showcase our webcam plugin and for this tutorial but there are a few things you can do to make yours much better. One tip I would recommend would be to add a gallery underneath the video and description of each update. For instance, let’s say you grabbed a video of Teen Topanga from Teen Revenue and threw it up on your blog with a nice hand-written description to ensure you’d bank on google traffic. What better way to keep your visitors happy then to allow them 10-12 pictures of her as well? Maybe add a flashy banner along with it. Not only will you add tons of clicks to your sponsors, but you will also help retain visitors by giving them both pictures and vids.

Hope this was helpful!

If you run a membership based tubesite then you are probably well aware of how well dating and webcams sell on them. But simply placing banners and IM pop-up ads on your tubesite is just the beginning! We’d like to offer you something else…

We want to create a co-branded white label webcam site for you, complete with a custom header, custom color scheme, the works basically. From there we want to set it up on cams.yourtubesite.com and give you additional customized banners to promote it on said tube. After that we use your membership sign-up form to paste over a few variables to us so that whenever a visitor signs up to your tube site, they also automatically receive a free membership to cams.yourtubesite.com that is created on the fly. They’ll receive a conformation email from you explaining their free membership to cams.yourtubesite.com as well.

After testing this out on a few different places we are seeing great results. Here are the stats of one of my affiliates who just started using this method:

Note: he is only posting over around 30 free joins a day to us. So no matter how small or large your site is, this seems to be working!

It’s not like adding this to your site will hurt anything and it’s fairly easy to set-up. It shouldn’t take your average programmer more than an hour to have up and live. Please contact me if you’d like to give this a shot!

Adult Blogging For Beginners: Introduction
I wanted to write a well thought out tutorial for ambitious new guys looking to break into the adult industry. I wanted to do a blogging tutorial because I feel that blogging is the best and easiest way for a webmaster to start pushing porn even though they may not have the design skills or programming knowledge to run a TGP. I hope this will give some of you guys a basic understanding of how things work in the blogging world. Although the tutorial is long, it barely scratches the surface of how complex and profitable blogging can be. Hope you guys enjoy it.

———————————————————

Step #1: Choosing a Host
Before you can get going in this biz, you need somewhere to store all of your belongings. Hosting in the adult world is the first and most essential decision you face before you start the actual building process. This is where all of your files are going to be stored for all of your sites, all of your data, etc… I would say that is pretty important.

Just like anything else, you’ll hear the pros and cons on individual hosting companies no matter whom it is. But that’s true for ANY company you can think of (Wal-Mart, etc). You will always find people that love/hate a company, however, it’s important for you to make a well-informed decision and decide for yourself.

As silly as this is going to sound, many new webmasters choose a host that doesn’t even allow adult content in the first place. Trust me, we were all noobs at one point and even I have made this same mistake in the beginning. I learned the hard way (by having all of my work deleted off of their servers). So please read the terms of the host you are choosing before sending them your money.

Don’t simply go for a fly-by-night host or a host that offers the cheapest rates in town. More often than not, you get what you pay for. Does your host have a phone number clearly and easily available on their site? Do they offer 24/7 live chat support? Do they have a message board for users to discuss questions and problems? Basically, are they going to be there for you when you need it?

The host I prefer to use is Host Gator and I chose them for a number of reasons. Firstly, they are affordable. When you are first starting out, you have to minimize expenses, and in that regard, they are well worth the money. Secondly, they have tremendous support, even for us adult guys. I have no problem going into a live chat and telling them about a domain such as “girlslovehugedixxx.net” or something along those lines and worrying about getting any weird responses. They treat all of their customers with respect.

However, the most important feature I like about them is that they allow you to host UNLIMITED domains, and they have cpanel, good statistic tracking software, and fantastico. Fantastico allows you to do one click wordpress installs (making building a blogging network soooo much quicker and manageable), one click message board installs, one click joomla installs, etc. They have one click installs for tons of software to be used on any of your domains. These one click installs are great for people who may not be quite familiar with Mysql databases and general coding procedures.

Step #2: Brainstorming Niches To Promote & Gathering Sponsors
Ok so we’ve got a host. Now what are we going to put on that host? What kind of site do you want to build? What niche will you be promoting? Really sit down and brainstorm what you want to do. If this is going to be the first site you create, I would suggest starting out with something you personally enjoy. Ask yourself what you would like to see and take it from there. Also, ask yourself if you want to go the route of promoting something vague, such as Teens, or do you want to go with a fetish niche such as girls that smoke or even into a micro-niche such as teens with short hair that smoke, milfs with tattoos that smoke, etc? Obviously, the possibilities are relatively infinite. No niche is too silly, I will tell you from experience, if you can think of a niche; someone out there is probably into it and willing to pay money to have their needs met. I would advise you to do your homework on the niche(s) you would like to promote, and I mean really do your homework. Maybe you aren’t very familiar with some of them? Think of yourself as being a salesperson! You want to know what you’re talking about and you want to come across like you know the niche well, otherwise your customers are going to be left unsold and unfulfilled.

Now, as we know, there are TONS of niches available to you. And there are pros and cons to promoting all of them. For example, promoting a niche like Teens has its ups and downs. One of the benefits is that Teen Girls are highly requested in the adult world. Therefore you have numerous visitors pursuing the next young looking teen babe! The downside being that the popularity of such a niche results in lots of free content already out there and lots of free videos on tube sites and the like. However, with a niche such as girls smoking, you have much fewer people searching for such a thing, therefore less traffic, but at the same time, the visitors you do maintain are a highly targeted audience. I would argue that content in general these days, no matter what it may be, is saturated to death, but that is a different tutorial and a different argument all together. Basically, with any niche-market you choose to get into, remember that there is always competition! But you know what? Competition is what the internet is all about and at the same time you have to remember that there is also a market share being displaced amongst all webmasters in said market. You can own any portion of that market share, big or small; it really comes down to how hard you are willing to work at it.

Once you have chosen a niche you would like to start marketing, you can then begin to find sponsors that will give you the content and such you need to get going. Finding sponsors is not a hard thing to do. I am not going to list out sponsors, because they can easily be found by doing a quick google search on the niche you are choosing to promote. Once you look around and do find sponsors to sign-up with, get familiar with the companies you choose and don’t be shy to contact them with any questions you may have! They are there to help you and more often than not, with a little common courtesy and politeness, they will bend over backwards for you. As an affiliate representative myself, I go above and beyond to help out my affiliates in any way possible whether they’re even with my company or not. Your sponsor needs you, just as much as you need them and rightfully so… this is a partnership we’re talking about. You, the affiliate, is choosing to make money through them and thus they are making money from you. What better business relationship could you ask for? It’s a give and take and with the right attitudes from both sides, that’s how business should be. Relationships are important in this biz and the stronger ones you create, the better off you’ll be. Treat others as you would like to be treated, because without networking you’re nothing.

Also, remember to check us out at Dating Gold, webcams and dating are something that you can’t just go out and really get for free. We convert on wide variety of niches, and of course you always have me for help!

Step #3: Choosing a Domain Name
Well, we have a host, we have a niche we’d like to market, now it’s time to make another purchasing step… buying a domain! Obviously we want a domain related to the niche we are going to promote, so it’s time to hit up godaddy (or some other reputable company) and start searching! I like to use godaddy because it’s relatively easy to manage domain names on there, although like I said earlier with hosting companies, I’m sure you’ll hear the good and bad for any given company. Also I like godaddy for the simple fact that if you search google for “godaddy coupons” you can save a decent amount of money on whatever you decide to register.

Anyways, on the subject of domain names, I have heard quite a few arguments that there are no good domain names that aren’t already registered. This is simply not true. Granted, everyday it does become harder and harder to find unique names, you just have to be creative with your methods. I’m sure I’m not the only one that does this, but Thesaurus.com is your best friend when it comes to domains. So let’s say you wanted to register HotGirls.com but HotGirls.com was already taken. Well, that’s where our good friend Mr. Thesaurus comes into play. A quick search of the word “hot” will result in many other words that could take its place. Did you try attractive, beautiful, bright, brilliant, centerfold, colorful, dazzling, delightful, dream, drop-dead, easy on the eyes, elegant, enjoyable, exquisite, fine, flamboyant, foxy*, gaudy, glittering, glorious, good-looking, grand, handsome, imposing, impressive, knockout*, lavish, lovely, lulu, luxuriant, luxurious, opulent, ostentatious, pleasing, plush, pulchritudinous, ravishing, resplendent, showy, splendid, splendiferous, stunning, sublime, sumptuous, superb ______Girls.com? All of which were recommended to us from a simple search! You can see how helpful something like a thesaurus could be when registering new domains.

Essentially registering a new domain that is not already taken and assuring quality when doing so is a tough task but with a basic tool such as a thesaurus and some creative thinking, you can get the job done fairly well! I know from experience, I have registered untaken domains and turned around and sold those same names three months later for 10 times the original cost of registering them.

Granted, I am by no means a domain expert, nor will I ever falsely claim to be one, I am just letting you know that if you don’t have the money to purchase a high quality domain, there are still plenty of opportunities to openly snatch a good one. A domain name is worth its weight in gold. Make sure you are buying one that actively targets your niche-marketing and will easily be picked up by search engines. Once again, this can be done by researching, researching, and researching. What are your main competitor’s domains looking like? Why are they ranking so high in search engines, etc?

Step #4: Creating The Backbone of Your Website
Alright now its time to choose a blogging platform! There are tons of backend blogging tools out there but when it comes to this part of the tutorial I am going to recommend that you create a wordpress blog for the fact that it is relatively easy to maintain for all new. This is due to the fact that wordpress blogs can easily be managed within their user dashboard. Also, wordpress blogs are great for those who aren’t entirely familiar with the whole design process of making sites look good. I am guilty of this myself… my design skills are sub-par for sure, haha. Fortunately, there are plenty of free wordpress themes available to download that will spruce up your blog in no time. Do a quick google search of “free adult wordpress themes” or “best wordpress themes” and you will find a vast number of sites allowing you to download and use their themes for FREE. Once you find these themes, you are typically allowed to edit them to fit the overall feel of your site as long as you leave a link referring back to where you downloaded the original theme. BUT, if you need help uploading a theme or messing around with a theme, please contact me and I will figure it out for you. After all, I am here to help and teach. Generally themes are pretty straight forward if you read the install instructions etc… but I am always here to answer questions if you need help.

Also with wordpress, after gathering a theme, I would suggest installing anti-spam and seo plugins, which are pretty easy to get working. Once again, do a google search for these as they are readily available and have extensive FAQs as to how they are to be uploaded and how they work.

Step #5 – Let’s Get To Work!
We are moving along rapidly! Now that we have a good looking blog, we are ready to update that site with some original content! Of course it is important to make your blog posts interesting to your visitors and thus I have a number of tips. The first one being that you should always update your blog via your own hand written articles. Stay away from sponsor’s RSS feeds. Your hand written posts should be extensive, although not long like a novel. Your posts are your key to getting search engines to spider your site. Make sure you are actively targeting your keywords and make sure you are not blatantly trying to spam your visitors. Go back and read your posts when you are finished writing them and ask yourself, if you were a visitor, would that post hold your interest? It is incredibly important to be genuine with what you are advertising. Like I said earlier, think of yourself as a salesperson!! Pride yourself on the fact that you know how to properly write a good blog post. You should sound like you are merely updating your blog because of your love for the niche you are promoting. Provide your users with a little bit of free content and no blind links or shady stuff, but make sure you keep them itching for more. Do not cheat them; do not make them go somewhere they have been misled into going. Instead, get their attention with a couple of images or short embedded videos and yet make sure they are going to want more after your post is complete, thus leading to clicks to your sponsor.

Talk to them as if you were in a bar bull-shitting with each other. Win them over by being relaxed and yet full of opinions. Then as a salesperson, describe things as if you were interested in buying it yourself. Lazy and uninspired writing like “THESE ARE THE HOTTEST GIRLS EVER” is not going to get you anywhere.

Getting Traffic To Your Blog
Ok, so you’ve updated your blog with a few quality posts. You have things going smoothly and it is time to officially “launch” your website. You have many options to receive traffic, so I am going to touch on a few of them!

On the subject of buying links, you need to be extremely careful here. Many people selling links will place your link on sites that are essentially abandoned and will be sinking into the PR toilet at anytime. For example, they might be offering a link on a PR 3 site that they know will end up at PR 1 or 0 in several months because they’ve already lost most of the linkage to that site, or they have no plans to keep it going.

Also, Our Lord Google absolutely hates link buying and it has worked very hard to develop methods of detecting such activity. Nobody knows for sure how far Google has gotten in this respect, but most agree that you definitely don’t want a ton of links to your site appearing overnight.

If you own multiple blogs, one of the best things you can do to build relevant inbound links is to trade with other webmasters through systems like http://thunder-ball.net/Tradegate/. You can do A-B-C trades and get one-way inbound links, which will help you far more than two-way reciprocal links. You need to remember that if you have a blog with plenty of original content on it, you have a valuable asset that you can leverage for links, even if that blog doesn’t yet show any PR on the toolbar. You will find plenty of webmasters who can see beyond toolbar PR to the real value of your site and they will be happy to trade with you because they know your sites’ PR will eventually rise. By this method, your entire blog network should gradually rise in PR and rankings. Be careful, though, not to produce blogs that are over-optimized (excessive and repetitive use of the same targeted term) because this will turn off a lot of webmasters from trading with you due to concerns of being associated with a spammy site.

I personally don’t see the utility of blog directories, to be honest. The traffic is minimal and declines steadily, plus your link is usually buried in a sea of links, or worse it falls off to some subpage that has no PR or link pop whatsoever. It’s better than nothing, but there are better options. And, yes, the number of outbound links can indeed hurt you when trying to setup a trade. If a webmaster sees that your blog is already linking to a gazillion sites, he knows that his link will get that much less juice from the page. Better to save your link space for high value relevant trades, not the low value reciprocal trades that directories offer. Also, having too many outbound links will hurt your rankings, as search engines will smell a link farm and promptly cut your balls off. Keep total outbound links to between 75 and 100, would be my advice.

Be careful about letting just anybody put their link up on your sites automatically through a script. You’re going to get a lot of really crappy and spammy sites that way, which may actually hurt your rankings as well, since Google is known to penalize you if you link to “bad neighborhoods.” If you can find a script that allows you to screen the link first, that would be ideal. Generally, try your best to link only to sites that don’t have any obvious red flags (like hundreds and hundreds of links and little else, hidden text, redirects or any similarly sneaky shit).

ThunderBall is probably the best place right now to arrange quality relevant trades, though many new people to it complain that their trade requests never get accepted. You should be patient and diligently continue to request reasonable trades, even if you’re ignored at the beginning. Sooner or later, you will identify those webmasters who are usually willing to trade with you and, before you know it, you will have a list of quality people you can trade regularly with. Many of these folks have huge site portfolios, so this is quite a resource that is well worth the effort. If those individuals don’t work out there are plenty of webmaster boards where you can find trade forums set-up for individuals like yourself to develop new trades. Just do a google search.

Great work first of all! You’ve put in a lot of hard work into your first site/blog and now you’re ready to keep growing! The first thing you should be doing is to keep updating your blog by hand and to actively accept new quality link trades while you also begin to build another blog. The true importance in the overall scheme of things is to actually build BOTH quality and quantity. As a webmaster you need to be focusing on both of those. In other words, let me put it this way; say the first site you created is receiving 100 unique visitors per day after a few link trades, search engine traffic and whatnot. By any means, that is a fairly low volume of traffic and could definitely be improved on. Do not let this damper your emotions! You can always improve on traffic. Either way, no matter what the numbers may be, it is still traffic nonetheless! Now let’s consider the possibility of creating and owning 10 separate blogs, all of which were still receiving 100 uniques per day… Now we’re talking about a network of blogs that receives 1,000 unique visitors a day! 10 blogs is by no means a lot to maintain either, this is just used as a reference. It should be used as an example that presents the kind of exponential growth you can maintain when developing your own network of sites. Forget about 10 blogs, turn that 10 into a hundred. As the old saying goes, if you build it, they will come! Build, build, build. Update, update, update. The numbers are up to you.

Looking on down the road, let’s assume by now that you have a network of highly developed and creative looking blogs, let’s say you have ten blogs in your network at this point. You know the different niches you are promoting and you know what you’re updating about. Your sites are growing and growing in a positive fashion. You are not cheating the surfer and you are not attempting to update your sites for the sake of a vague new post. You are actively involved in your sites and are doing your best to make sure they are top notch.

From here you could possibly begin to sell links to other webmasters on your blogs for promoting their own sites. You could also look into selling advertising spots as well. Of course, both of those would be priced based on the traffic you are receiving and the PR rank of your blogs.

In Closing…
Blogs are as good as what you make of them. Don’t be a fly by night blogger and give up the minute you feel like things aren’t going anywhere. The days of doing minimal work and seeing big returns in adult are over with. Seeing a return can take months if not longer, it honestly depends on what you’re willing to put into it. I would advise you to keep chuggin along and working hard, and please, feel free to hit me up if you have questions or need help.
